New CCTV image could hold the key to solving Carlisle hit-and-run

Police have released new information and images as part of their investigation into the hit-and-run crash which left a 23-year-old cyclist with horrific injuries.

Javiera Morgado was dragged for 80 metres along Bishopsgate Street in Carlisle last Sunday night after being hit by a white Mitsubishi Pajero.

WAtoday has obtained a new CCTV image of the white Mitsubishi Pajero that police believe was involved in the crash.

The below image was captured on Sevenoaks Street in Cannington just minutes before the crash.

The vehicle has been described as a two-tone NP model Mitsubishi Pajero that is white on the top two thirds and silver on the bottom third and on the bumpers, front and rear.

The vehicle also has a white plastic cover on the rear-mounted spare tyre.

Major Crash officers believe that after the crash the vehicle travelled further along Bishopsgate Street before turning right into Mercury Street then left into Planet Street.

Police say the car continued along Planet Street before turning left onto Archer Street towards Rutland Avenue and Shepperton Road.

Police are urging the driver to come forward either by phoning 131 444 or going to a local police station. People who believe they may know of the vehicle or the driver should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or make a report online.
