GURUGRAM: The 13-year-old boy, who has been apprehended for allegedly killing his seven-year-old friend, claimed that the latter’s abuses enraged him so much that he started hitting him but did not intend to kill him. Police are now questioning the teenager’s mother and sister but could not confirm if they had any role in the crime.
“He was one of my best friends. I just couldn’t take his abuses and so I hit him. I was mad with anger. I did not want to kill him,” the teenager told counsellors. He was sent to an observation home on Friday evening after being counselled for the whole day.
The mutilated body of the seven-year-old was found in a forest area in DLF 1 on Tuesday. The 13-year-old confessed to the murder on Thursday, saying he had got into an altercation with his friend while playing kabaddi and ended up hitting him with a stone and leaving him bleeding in the forest.
According to sources, the teenager, who has been maintaining his composure till now to avoid police suspicion, was full of remorse on Friday and seemed scared of the consequences that await him. He is now insisting that the murder happened in the heat of the moment.
Police have managed to recover only the head and legs of the seven-year-old and are still looking for answers regarding the missing torso. A special team has been formed to investigate the same.
The accused has not confessed to hacking the body, so far. A special team is conducting searches in the forest area as well as the nearby shanties. Initially, police were working on the theory that an animal tore up the body but after the teenager’s confession, they have focussed their attention on finding out if somebody else was involved in mutilating the body so that it could not be identified. Besides the teenager’s mother and sister, hawkers and ragpickers in the area are being questioned in this regard.
“No more arrests have been made in the case. We are still investigating but have nothing to reveal as it might hamper the ongoing investigation,” said Karan Goyal, ACP (DLF).
DCP (east) Sulochana Gajraj said they were waiting for the forensic reports. “We hope the picture will be clear soon,” she said.
