Varanasi: BJP leaders slammed AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in-charge of east UP, for falsely accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ignoring villagers in his parliamentary constituency and said that she should check the facts before making such statements.
BJP Kashi region president Mahesh Chandra Srivastava cited records and reports to prove that PM Modi visited many villages in his constituency on different occasions and also adopted four villages under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.

“Such baseless accusation shows Priyanka’s lack of knowledge,” said Srivastava, adding that besides visiting many villages, PM Modi has also held public meetings in several villages of Varanasi.

“Priyanka should take correct feedback before passing any such remarks,” he added.

Priyanka had said at a road show, “Duniya bhar ghoom aaye hain. Japan gaye wahan gale lage, Pakistan gaye wahan biryani khaayi, China gaye wahan gale lage. Lekin Varanasi ke ek gareeb parivaar se gale lagte dekha hai? (He (PM) has travelled across world. Went to Japan and China and hugged people there. Went to Pakistan and had biryani, but was never seen hugging a poor family of Varanasi.”

Srivastava said, “After becoming PM, Modi first visited Jayapur village on November 7, 2014 and adopted it under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. After being adopted by the PM, Jayapur witnessed a sea change in terms of civic amenities like road, water supply, streetlights, toilets, bank branches, etc.”

Modi also visited Shahanshapur village on September 23, 2017 and inaugurated Pashudhan Arogya Mela and a gaushala, laid foundation stone of a ‘Izzatghar’ (toilet) for a family and addressed a public meeting.

In his visit on September 17, 2018, PM Modi went to a primary school in Naraur village in Rohaniya area of Kashi Vidyapith block on his birthday. When he stepped into the school, children welcomed him with a song and presented birthday cards made specially for him.

During his 45-minute stay at the school, Modi interacted with the children and listened to their stories. He told them never to be afraid of asking questions as it is the key to learning. He also exhorted children to keep themselves physically fit and healthy by taking part in sports activities.

Besides Jayapur, Modi adopted three more villages, including Nagepur, Kakarahia and Domari in Varanasi under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana where several development projects were launched.
