Fire breaks out in HPCL's Vizag unit, 2 workers hurt

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two workers sustained burn injuries after a major fire broke out at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited's (HPCL) Visakhapatnam unit on Saturday.
The fire erupted in Continuous Catalytic Reformer (CCR) unit in the MS Block in Malkapuram in the afternoon.
Several fire tenders have been pressed into service at the unit - which produces gasoline.
The Vizag unit of HPCL produces 1.66 lakh barrels of gasoline in a day. The unit contains one CCR and an isomerisation unit.
HPCL officer U Sharma told TOI that the fire was under control. It would be doused at any time.
