The electoral battle to win the Lok Sabha elections is in full swing with all the political parties aggressively campaigning across the country. After the Congress released its manifesto on Tuesday, the battle has become sharper with the BJP targetting the Congress over its pledge to amend AFSPA and remove other controversial laws.

Lt. General (Retired) Sarath Chand, former Vice Chief of Army Staff, on Saturday, joined BJP in presence of Union Minister and party leader Sushma Swaraj in Delhi.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress for its promise to review AFSPA, saying it is "raksha kavach" (armour) of security forces. while addressing a rally in Chhattisgarh's Balod.


Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Saturday said that Rahul Gandhi's nomination from Kerala indicates Congress' unholy alliance with Muslim League.

"Congress' alliance with Muslim League in Kerala and with AIUDF in Assam has compromised the country's security", Adityanath said.

 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the gathering in Sundargarh's Odisha on Saturday, said that people have to decide whether they want to choose an honest and principled government committed to development of all, or a corrupt and unprincipled one.


All the BJP and Congress candidates, except five, who are in the fray for the 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat, are'crorepatis', revealed the affidavits submitted by them with their nomination papers.

Some of the richest candidates from these two major parties include Congress's Mehsana nominee, Ambalal Patel, who has declared assets worth Rs 69.9 crore.


Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha joined the Congress Saturday in the presence of its senior leaders at the party headquarters in Delhi.

Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal welcomed Sinha into the party fold and termed him the "best politician who was earlier with the wrong party".


 BJP president Amit Shah, who is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Gandhinagar seat, Saturday embarked on a roadshow in the city, on the 39th foundation day of his party.
