The Community Media Trust (CMT), run by Deccan Development Society (DDS), has taken up a new initiative — a ‘Video Diary’ series to be produced by rural dalit women.
The diary will be unveiled every two months as a video journal that will attempt to report the happenings around their villages, their communities and things that have particular significance for rural women.
Disclosing the details at Zaheerabad here on Friday, DDS director P.V. Satheesh said the first video diary which was produced significantly on the International Women’s Day in 2019, affirms the faith of the women of CMT in the global slogan ‘Balance for Better’. This video diary also dwells upon the beginning of ‘imbalance’ when power got concentrated in the hands of men, especially in the governmental and other rural non-governmental spheres.
Masanagari Chinna Narsamma, a dalit woman hailing from a poor family of Pastapur village in the Zaheerabad mandal, will unveil the diary series.
‘Organic’ cafe
Another initiative of CMT will be turning Café Ethnic, an associate institution of DDS, into cent per cent organic, thereby converting it as the first organic millet restaurant in Telangana. Café Ethnic started more than 15 years ago was probably the first ever eating house that had ‘Pakka Telangana Thindi’ as its motto.
