Vijay CC’s Rahil Shah spun a web around CromBest to dismiss it for a modest score of 91 in what is turning out to be a low-scoring contest in the eighth round of the TNCA First Division League here on Friday.

R Srinivasan; Rahil Shah
Chennai:
He bowled well in tandem with skipper and off-spinner Malolan Rangarajan, who took four for 25. Vijay’s batsmen fared slightly better scoring 177 and taking a lead of 86 runs with wicket-keeper N Jagadeesan scoring 53 (72b, 4x4, 2x6) while J Kousik remained unbeaten on 54 (86b, 6x4, 1x6).
CromBest is in danger of suffering an innings defeat as it was struggling in its second innings at 53 for five with Rahil taking three for 27.
Elsewhere, MRC ‘A’ captain, R Srinivasan, struck his third ton of the season 113 (188b, 16x4) to guide his team to a respectable score of 248 against defending champion Grand Slam. At one stage, it didn’t look like MRC ‘A’ would go past 200, but a last wicket stand of 79 runs between Srinivasan and M Silambarasan (10 not out) helped it finish at 248. For Grand Slam, off-spinner, B Arun took four for 69.
