PATNA: Police found a kid within 30 minutes after he was allegedly lifted by three women on the premises of the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Saturday.
The incident took place when one Vimla Devi, a resident of Hemantchak village under Naubatpur police station area, came to the PMCH with her grandson Ayush Kumar (2) for his treatment.
“While waiting outside the maternity department of the hospital for collecting my grandson’s documents, I saw three women sitting on the floor. One of them went inside and came back with her papers after which my name was called. In a hurry, I made Ayush sit near the women and as soon as I returned, none of them was around.”
The elderly woman immediately raised the alarm and rushed to a nearby police outpost. “Policemen were alerted and deployed at all entry and exit points of the hospital. The women probably left the child at a secluded place not far from the spot from where he was lifted. The recovery was made within half an hour,” police outpost in charge Amit Kumar said and added CCTV camera footages were being scanned to identify the child-lifters.
According to City SP (central) Prantosh Kumar Das, a child-lifter from Sasaram was arrested four months ago and a kid recovered from her possession. Even in January, a woman was arrested for trying to flee with a new born child from the maternity department of the PMCH.
2 held with looted bike, cellphones: Police on Friday night arrested Rohit Kumar alias Jhotaila and Raja Kumar, both in their early 20s, near a temple in Saidpur under the Kadamkuan police station area of the city for their involvement in several cases of loot and snatching.
“A looted bike, three stolen cellphones, a countrymade pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from their possession. Raids are on to arrest other members of the gang,” City SP (central) Prantosh Kumar Das said, adding Rohit was accused in at least six criminal cases and lodged in jail from September 21, 2017 to October 6 last year.
