NEW DELHI: A video that surfaced online on Friday shows a man jumping in front of a metro train at Tikri Kalan metro station.
In the clip, the man, a businessman from Chandigarh, is seen landing on the cuffing of the rake and then getting sucked under the train. Police said one of his legs was severed in the incident.
He was later pulled out and admitted to a hospital where his leg was amputated. His family claimed that he was depressed over losses in business, which might have prompted him to take the extreme step.
The incident happened around 1pm when the man is seen waiting at the metro station along with two other passengers. As the train enters the platform, he walks back a few steps and jumps before it. He was instantly sucked under the rake. Before the driver could apply the brakes, he was crushed under the wheels.
Police said, he had landed in between the lines due to which the other parts of the body were saved. He claimed to have come to the city to meet his sister in Rohini. The man is being counselled by members of an NGO.
