The Emergency Department of the AIIMS Trauma Centre will resume operation from Saturday, 12 days after a massive blaze rendered the operation theatre complex non-functional.
OTs renovated
Additional Superintendent of AIIMS Amit Lathwal said three of the five operation theatres (OT) on the ground floor that were damaged in the fire have been renovated and will become functional from Saturday.
“The OT on the first floor, which was made operational after the incident, will be available for urgent and minor cases till all the OTs become operational,” he added.
Admission of patients to the Emergency Department, the biggest such facility in the country, was suspended after a massive blaze on March 24 had damaged the OTs.
Admitted patients
Several scheduled surgeries had to be postponed while an OT on the first floor, which had been dismantled due to renovation, was made operational to cater to the needs of admitted patients.
