Ambala: 5 booked for illegal sand mining

AMBALA: Police have registered a case against five persons for their alleged involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of sand from Begna river in Ambala district.
District mining officials had carried out an inspection of river Begna on April 5 where they spotted five tractors that were being loaded with illegally mined sand.
“After conducting an enquiry, we came to know that these tractors and trolleys belong to Darshan Lal, Deen Khan, Gurdev, Nawab Ali and Jasbir all residents village Rajouli, and they have been illegally extracting the sand for the past several days,” assistant mining officer Sunil Kumar stated in his FIR.
Following the complaint, Shahzadpur police have booked all the five accused under Section 21(3) and 21(4) of the Mines and Minerals (Regulation of Development) Act to start the investigation.
