Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, on Friday, assured the residents of Virudhunagar district that the state government would take all necessary steps to revive the cracker industry.

“The government is with you and will ensure that the cracker industry is not affected,” he added.
Palaniswami along with Dairy Minister KT Rajenthra Bhalaji, campaigned for DMDK candidate Alagarsamy contesting from the Virudhunagar Lok Sabha seat.
Listing out the drinking water schemes for the district, Palaniswami said that projects worth Rs 450 crore were ready and would soon be implemented in Virudhunagar, Arupukkotai and Sattur towns. Apart from that, Sivalaperi Integrated Water Scheme would cater to the needs of 785 villages in Sivakasi, Sattur, Vembakottai and Virudhunagar union would shortly be getting drinking water at a cost of Rs 234 crore on completion of the projects, said Palaniswami.
The Chief Minister then reached Srivilliputhur where he campaigned for Puthiya Tamilagam leader Krishnasamy contesting from Tenkasi LS constituency in the AIADMK alliance. In the campaign, Palaniswami lambasted Vaiko for making a full U-turn and aligning with the DMK.
“Vaiko came out opposing the high command and floated a new party primarily aimed at defeating the DMK. He (Vaiko) was the one to say that DMK was being run like a company owned by a family and not like a political party. But now he has aligned with the same party,” said Palaniswami.
He also said that the alliance formed by the DMK was opportunistic bererft of any ideology, but the alliance formed by the AIADMK was for the interest of the people and the entire nation as we want a strong leader at the Centre.
Palaniswami in his next leg campaigned for the party’s Madurai Lok Sabha candidate Raj Sathyan. He assured that a bridge would soon be constructed at a cost of Rs 54 crore in Kalavasal to reduce traffic congestion.
Addressing voters in Sivakasi, Palaniswami assured, “The government will employ top advocates in the country as part of its efforts to vacate the order on cracker units.”
