2020 Renault Megane Is Up For A Facelift And It’s Coming To Frankfurt Show

The facelifted Renault Megane has been spotted again in the south of Spain where it undergoes hot weather testing. A new batch of photos has been added to the gallery. (Update 4/6/2019)

It has been a good week so far for hunting Renault Megane test prototypes. Following yesterday’s first sighting of the hardcore Megane RS Trophy-R at the Nürburgring, we can now show you the first photos of the regular Megane hatchback in facelifted guise.

Renault is getting ready to apply a mid-cycle makeover to its popular C-segment model, which has only been around since 2016 in current fourth-generation form. Our photographers spotted a test prototype undergoing hot weather trials in southern Europe and, as you can see, we’re in for a typical mid-life nip and tuck.

The 2020 Megane appears to only get styling updates at the front and rear end, with the sides remaining untouched — bar from that black tape on the front fenders that likely hides a new ornament. Unsurprisingly, the most significant changes over the current model will be operated at the front and will include new headlights with a new LED signature, a refreshed grille, and a redesigned bumper.

At the rear, the facelifted Megane appears to feature new taillights as well. As with the headlights, the camouflage prevents us from distinguishing their shape, however it’s pretty clear they feature new graphics. Expect the rear bumper and the tailgate to get minor updates too.

Some of the photos allow for a peek at the dashboard, which is fully covered. That indicates some changes are coming to the cabin as well, most likely in line with the fifth-generation Renault Clio. Expect the refreshed Megane to get the larger 9.3-inch curved touchscreen for the infotainment system and the new digital instrument cluster.

There’s no official information on engines yet, but Renault should offer new or at least improved powertrains when the facelifted Megane debuts. About that, the updated model is expected to show up at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
