Punjab: Chemist held for running drug-peddling nexus

LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana unit of the Special Task Force (STF) arrested a man who was allegedly running a drug-peddling nexus form his medical store in Giaspura area.

The STF team recovered 2,042 banned medicines, 40g heroin and 20 injections filled with heroin form his possession.


According to officials, the accused has set up a separate ward inside his medical store where he used to inject heroin to his customers.


The arrested accused has been identified as Aminder Singh (30), of Maha Singh Nagar. The license of his medical store was in the name of one Pawan Kumar of Makkar Colony.


"The accused was arrested late on Friday form a checkpost following a tip-off. On frisking, the STF team recovered 20 bottles of intoxicating pills and 40g heroin. STF sleuths along with a team of health department conducted a raid at his medical store ‘Khungar Medical Hall’ and recovered 2,022 banned tablets, 14 injections filled with heroin and 60 empty syringes,” STF AIG Sanehdeep Sharma said.


“The accused has also confessed that he used to procure banned drugs from Chandigarh-based people," Ludhiana STF in-charge Harbans Singh said.
