They could be seen holding placards outside the event, while making sure their voices were heard by the thousands of racegoers parking their cars nearby.
The group were protesting horse racing as the event continued throughout the afternoon, with one sign reading: 'Say neigh to horse racing'.
Slogans ranged from calling for jockeys' use of whips to be banned to questioning whether the circumstance surrounding horse racing is really worth it.
'No more whips! Horse racing kills,' another sign said.
