Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader TTV Dhinakaran said on Friday that people of Tamil Nadu would teach a lesson to the betrayers of Jayalalithaa by casting their votes for his outfit.
Speaking at an election rally in Nilakottai Assembly segment, which is facing a by-poll, he said that the RK Nagar result remained green in the minds of people.
The by-election to 18 seats to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly was necessitated by the “betrayers of Amma” (Jayalalithaa). The voters would teach them a lesson. “When Sasikala took so much care to save the party from a deep crisis after the demise of Amma, the betrayers had left her in a lurch,” he said.
The PMK, he said, strongly opposed the construction of a ‘mani mandapam’ in memory of Jayalalithaa and approached the court. Similarly, the DMDK had criticised the AIADMK of corruption and accused the ruling party of ruining the State. Now, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswamy and his colleagues spoke highly of the partners of ‘mega alliance,’ conveniently forgetting these charges.
The Dindigul Lok Sabha constituency has remained a fort of the AIADMK from the party’s inception. Due to intra-party squabbles, the AIADMK had now given it to the PMK, which had no base here. The PMK had been made a scapegoat in Dindigul, he said.
