An adult male tiger aged between 10 and 12 years was found dead in the Meghamalai Wildlife Sanctuary.
The death could have occurred about four days ago, forest officials said.
A post-mortem was conducted to investigate the cause and time of death on Saturday, officials added. Sachin Bhosale, Wildlife Warden, Meghamalai Wildlife Sanctuary, said the tiger might have died fighting for its territory with another adult tiger.
“There is no major evidence alluding to poaching. The nails, canines and skin are in place. However, we are awaiting forensic reports to confirm,” he said.
