PATNA: With a view to enhancing the employability skills of students and providing them necessary information about job avenues in different sectors, a full-fledged career centre will soon be set up on Patna University (PU) campus.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard was signed between PU’s Counselling, Training and Placement Cell convener Asim Lal Chakraborty and Medha Learning Foundation’s executive director Byomkesh Mishra in the presence of vice-chancellor (VC) Rash Bihari Prasad Singh, pro-VC Dolly Sinha, registrar Manoj Mishra and students’ welfare dean N K Jha on Wednesday.
The career centre, which will start functioning from July, will train students, provide counselling, facilitate workplace exposure and create placement opportunities for the university scholars. Medha Learning Foundation has been authorized to run the centre for three years and help secure suitable placement opportunities for the university students by imparting training to them.
PU already has a Counselling, Training and Placement Cell where students can get themselves registered by paying Rs 500 each. The university also runs several job-oriented courses, but the placement scenario has been bleak so far. Even the Employment and Guidance Bureau, which was set up on the campus several decades ago, has been lying defunct.
