‘No space for Federal Front in the present scenario’

APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy on Wednesday exhorted people to strengthen the hands of the Congress, which alone was in a position to grant Special Category Status (SCS) to the State on coming to power.

In keeping with the Congress’ promise in Parliament at the time of bifurcation, the party included SCS in its manifesto, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy told a rally here.

“The first file that will be signed by party President Rahul Gandhi on becoming the Prime Minister will be the one on SCS,” he asserted.

On YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s assertion that it would work with the TRS to achieve SCS, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said there was no political space for the Federal Front in the present political scenario as the electoral battle was only between the fronts led by the BJP and the Congress.

“The so-called front in national politics is a myth. The claim by the YSRCP is nothing but an attempt to fool the people,” he opined.

The BJP had already ruled out SCS, which was the basis for the State’s division, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy pointed out. Any party that was committed to SCS should support the Congress, he added.

Highlighting the salient features of the manifesto, he said the Congress, if voted to power, would provide ₹72,000 per annum to the poor, introduce Kisan Budget, and recast the “anti-people” GST regime.
