Pune: It seems leaders from Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have made up their mind to earn brownie points by questioning Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) decision to change candidate for Pune Lok Sabha constituency. The top leaders from both the parties conducted a rally in Pune as the Congress candidate of Pune Lok Sabha Mohan Joshi and NCP candidate of Baramati Lok Sabha Supriya Sule filed their nominations on Wednesday.
While addressing the rally, Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not have any issues to raise. Hence, they are attacking individuals. Had they done development work, there would have been no need to change their candidate in Pune.”
Joshi said, “The BJP government is cheating people for last five years. The district guardian minister has not done enough work. They should take lessons from former District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar.” Sule criticised BJP saying it is a fake government.
Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan, All India Congress Committee Secretary in charge for Western Maharashtra Sonal Patel, senior NCP leader Harshvardhan Patil, Ajit Pawar, MP Vandana Chavan, Socialist leader Kumar Saptarshi and other leaders from both the parties were present for the rally. It was conducted at Narpatgiri Chowk. Party workers were present at the rally.
Chavan appealed to party workers to raise people-centric issues in the election campaign. Chavan urged party workers not to waste time in arguing with BJP leaders.
“They are killing our time and labelling us anti-national,’’ he said.
