Nationally recognized oncology experts will discuss practical methods to apply precision medicine to the care of cancer patients across major tumor types

Physicians’ Education Resource® (PER®), a worldwide leader in continuing medical education (CME), will present its 1st Annual Precision Medicine Symposium: An Illustrated Tumor Board meeting from May 9-10 at Parker New York in New York City. This dynamic symposium will be chaired by Andre H. Goy, M.D., MS, chairman, executive director, andlymphoma division chief at John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center; chief science officer at Regional Cancer Care Associates; professor of medicine at Georgetown University; and professor and chair of the oncology department at Seton Hall - Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.

“We are proud to present our first ever precision medicine symposium this year in New York City,” said Phil Talamo, president of PER®. “This meeting will bring together oncology experts to discuss the real-world application of precision medicine strategies across the major tumor types. The ‘illustrated tumor board’ format will help “illustrate” topics beyond the data into real-world application to patient care.”

The symposium is a two-day educational meeting that will review major solid and liquid tumors, including lung, breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and skin cancers and hematologic malignancies, as well as present several precision-medicine-style keynote lectures. The program will highlight the role of advanced genetic panel testing and how it can inform the use of targeted therapies across solid tumors to deliver state-of-the-art care. The tumor board will focus on the contemporary use of next-generation sequencing, liquid biopsy and cytogenetic testing across malignancies and how to best leverage the actionable targets that drive clinical decision-making, keeping a narrow focus on what pathologists, oncologists and nurses need to know to advance patient care.
