Ghaziabad/Meerut: UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday dubbed the Congress manifesto as “a recipe for disaster” and said it looked more like “the document of an enemy country” that undermines national security. He also hit out at the party for promising to scrap sedition law in its manifesto.
“The Congress speaks the language of Pakistan and in its manifesto, it has promised to repeal the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Acts in the northeastern states and Jammu and Kashmir if voted to power. If this happens, it will dent our national security,” Yogi said, addressing an election rally in Loni’s Gadhi Kattiya in support of incumbent Ghaziabad MP General VK Singh (retd). “And BSP-SP together are providing a helping hand to Congress.”
The CM also dismissed the Congress promise of guaranteed cash transfer of Rs 72,000 a year as “a bundles of lies”.
Patting his back for the “improved” law and order situation in the state, Yogi said, “Contract killings, illegal cow slaughtering and riots were commonplace in the past 15 years of SP and BSP rule, in which both the parties connived with anti-social elements, but now the criminals are either in jail or have left the state for good, while some have been eliminated.”
He also showered praise on General Singh for changing the face of Loni in the past five years. “Our Ghaziabad candidate has proven credentials as an Army chief, an MP and as a minister. The face of Loni has changed as the crime rate is down and all credit goes to him for pushing the development agenda,” the CM added.
Earlier speaking at poll rallies in Baghpat and Meerut city also, Yogi came down heavily on Congress for its promise to scrap sedition law. “Looking at the Congress manifesto, it appears that the party has been infiltrated by urban Naxals who have hijacked the party,” the CM said in Baghpat. He also slammed the Congress for “suspecting” the Balakot air strike.
