The Gomtipur police on Wednesday arrested a man who entered the police station with a knife to kill his friend, who had come to complaint against him. A complaint was finally lodged against accused Sonu Diwakar.
As per the police, the complaint was lodged by victim Jayesh Meena (19), a resident of Nagori ki Chali located near Gomtipur police station. Meena works as a labourer. He stated in his complaint that last month his neighbour Sonu Diwakar had borrowed his new clothes to wear them for a wedding function.
After the function got over, Meena went to get his clothes back, but Diwakar refused to give it to him. The two men got into a heated argument but Meena still did not return Meena’s clothes.
On Tuesday night, when Meena was sleeping inside his house.
Diwakar got inside the house with a knife and tried to stab him. Fortunately, Meena woke up and pushed Diwakar and managed to get out of the house. Meena ran towards the Gomtipur police station, while Diwakar chased him wielding a knife in his hand.
Meena entered the police station screaming for help. The on-duty policemen immediately swung into action and nabbed Diwakar. The police also recovered a knife from him.
C B Tandel, inspector of Gomtipur police station said, “During the interrogation, it was revealed both were close friends and had a fight after Diwakar refused to return the clothes he had borrowed from Meena.”
