Beware of false poll promises: Seeman

Naam Tamilar Katchi (NAM) chief coordinator Seeman on Thursday questioned whether forcible acquisition of wetlands by the Central and State governments for laying roads could be called development.

Campaigning for party candidates Mansoor Ali Khan (Dindigul Lok Sabha constituency) and Sangilipandian (Nilakottai Assembly by-election), he said political parties — be it BJP or Congress or AIADMK or DMK — either indulged in blame game or misled the people. Claiming that such measures were for ‘development’, the parties actually ruined the lives of farmers.

Many countries around the globe, which neglected agriculture, were headed towards starvation. “If cultivable lands are taken over for widening roads, where will farmers grow rice and wheat and other produce required for human consumption,” Mr. Seeman asked and urged the voters to think before they exercised their votes.

The NTK was the only party in the State that had earmarked 20 seats for women in the Lok Sabha. He promised to deliver world class education for all and blamed political parties for their failure. The ‘self-appointed’ leaders in DMK, AIADMK, Congress and BJP had high stakes in education sector, making huge investments, and neglected the future of the masses.

Coming down heavily on the BJP, Mr. Seeman said the party was instrumental in introducing NEET and now its leaders, in their campaign, claimed they would drop it if elected to power. “Why didn’t they do it while they were in power for the last five years,” he asked and cautioned the people not to be misled by such false promises.
