Geet Ramayan at 151 venues in Vidarbha
Nagpur: Sanskar Bharati will present Geet Ramayan at 151 venues throughout Vidarbha on April 6, 7, 8, 12 and 13 on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri and Ram Navami.
Addressing the media on Thursday, Ashutosh Adoni, general secretary of Vidarbha chapter of Sanskar Bharati, said “Geet Ramayan was penned by GD Madgulkar and composed by Sudhir Phadke. This is the centenary year of the two legends and therefore we decided to present it for the people on Hindu new year celebrated on Gudi Padwa.”

Sanskar Bharati has been presenting Geet Ramayan on Gudi Padwa for the last 15 years.

The presentation will be given in approximately all talukas of 11 districts. Around 1,000 singers, instrumentalists, dancers and other artistes will take part in the event.


“The effort is to spread the story of Lord Ram through songs, dance, music and art. Sanskar Bharati will be providing stage to numerous upcoming artistes. This is the first time the birth centenary of Madgulkar and Phadke will be celebrated in a grand manner in Maharashtra,” he said.


In the city, the event will be staged at 51 venues and will be presented by 500 artistes divided into 15 groups. “There will be groups of women, children and blind students. Last year, there were 25 such groups who presented Geet Ramayan in the city,” Adoni added.


The event will start at Shri Ram Nagar, Somalwada Pawanbhoomi, at 6pm on Saturday in the presence of renowned violinist Pt Prabhakar Dhakde and director of SCZCC Deepak Khirwadkar. In western Vidarbha, the event will be inaugurated at Vyankatesh Lawns, Amravati, in the presence of Abhijit Gokhale, all India secretary of Sanskar Bharati at the same time.
