United Democratic Front nominee for the Pathanamthitta Lok Sabha constituency Anto Antony, also the sitting MP, submitted his papers before the Returning Officer on Thursday.
Mr. Antony, accompanied by P.J. Kurien, former Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, and other UDF leaders, reached the Collectorate in the forenoon. He submitted four sets of nominations.
Meanwhile, National Democratic Alliance nominee K. Surendran filed two new sets of nomination papers on Thursday, along with a corrected affidavit incorporating the details of the 222 new cases registered against him at various police stations in connection with protests against the court verdict on women’s entry to Sabarimala.
According to official sources, 11 persons filed nominations in Pathanamthita as on Thursday afternoon. The RO has received 23 sets of nomination papers with the nominees of the three mainstream parties filing multiple papers.
Veena George of the Left Democratic Front filed three and Mr. Surendran four sets of nominations.
