The Rural Police have seized ₹ 4.17 crore in unaccounted cash in three weeks, in Visakhapatnam district. The seizures also include 25.37 gm of gold and 10.638 gm of silver.
According to SP Attada Babujee, the cash being transported without proper documents was seized at 20 different check-posts arranged in view of the elections. A number of vehicles used for transportation of the unaccounted money were also seized. However, the police said that if the persons came with proper documents in support of the cash transactions, the same would be given back.
Poll code violations
Since March 11, the police have seized 2,580.946 litres of liquor worth ₹ 12 lakh. About 393 kg of ganja worth ₹ 8.85 lakh have also been recovered. The police have seized crackers worth ₹35,493 worth crackers and raw materials in 14 different cases, apart from banned chewing tobacco sachets worth ₹ 71,265.
Meanwhile, 276 cases have been registered on charges of violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in the district. The violations include placing hoardings, using loud speakers, usage of party flags, stickers and etc.
454 persons bound over
The police have identified 504 ‘vulnerable’ or ‘problematic’ persons. Of the total, 454 persons have been bound over and among them 50 persons were former UG cadre of Maoists.
