CHENNAI: An engineering college student has been arrested for stalking a woman in Nungambakkam on Tuesday.

Police said Mariya Arokiadass, an aeronautical engineering student from Madurai, was in love with a 20-year-old college student from Nungambakkam. But the couple broke up last month as the woman was upset with his behaviour. She refused to speak to Arokiadass and avoided his phone calls.

Arokiadass came to Chennai and tried to contact the woman multiple times but did not succeed. On March 7, he intercepted the woman while she was returning from college. He forcibly pulled her hands and asked her to renew the relationship. After the incident, Arokiadass kept stalking her.

The woman told her parents about Arokiadass and lodged a complaint at the Nungambakkam police station. He was booked on charges of women harassment.
