Live wire kills 4 of family in Ramdurg

Belagavi: Four people, including two children, from a family died on the spot after they came in contact with a live electricity wire at Thimmapur village in Ramdurg taluk on Thursday morning.
Revappa Kalloli, 35, his wife Ratnawwa, 30, son Sachin, 8, and Ravappa’s brother’s son Krishna, 12, are the deceased. Two bullocks also died in the incident. According to police sources, the incident occurred when the family was heading towards a farm in a bullock cart early in the morning.
The family came in contact with the live wire which had snapped from an electric pole following heavy rain and wind on Wednesday.
Sources said one of the bullocks was electrocuted first and it fell. Revappa who tried to save the bullock was also electrocuted. The others died when they tried to rescue each other.
It is said that the villagers had informed Hescom officials to remove the live wire but none had responded.
Angry villagers protested by blocking a road Thursday. A case has been registered in Katakol police station.
