Chennai: Conwoman arrested for robbery

CHENNAI: A 45-year-old woman was arrested by the Aminjikarai police for stealing money and valuables from patients and visitors of Arignar Anna Govt Hospital of Indian Medicine in Arumbakkam after diverting their attention.
The woman, identified as Shanthi of Chetpet, targeted women patients and robbed their valuables, said police. On Wednesday, Shanthi robbed a half-sovereign chain from an 85-year-old woman from Kallakurichi and 600 from Manimekalai, 50, of Mayiladuthurai. When she attempted another robbery, visitors at the hospital detained her and handed her over to police. Police are investigating if she was involved in other offences.
