As Lok Sabha elections draw closer, both political parties don’t want to leave any stone unturned to target each other. The spat between a traffic cop and Congressman at Rajwada on Tuesday, which went viral on social media, too took a political turn as leaders of both BJP and Congress targeted each other over action taken against him. Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police Ruchi Vardhan Mishra said cop has been sent for training and not being line attached.
It was circulated on social media on Wednesday morning that the cops was line attached by the department for arguing with Congress leaders and for taking home minister Bala Bachchan’s name. While former chief minister Shivraj Singh tweeted targeting Congress government in state by demanding to know whether this is the way Congress respects an honest officer by line attaching him. Chouhan had also tagged Rahul Gandhi in his tweet. Meanwhile, Congress’ spokesperson Narendra Saluja targeted Chouhan for his tweet and said he has been misguided. “The cop has not been punished but he has been sent on training for a week,” Saluja tweeted.
“Many times, due to several reasons, including issues in the family, policemen face tremendous stress while discharging their duty. I am sure Singh would get some relief through this training session,” SSP Mishra said. The viral video shows Singh engaged in a heated argument with MP Congress secretary Akhilesh Jain. It shows him saying that even if he is threatened in the name of state home minister Bala Bachchan, he would continue to penalise those breaking traffic rules.
In the video, the policeman can be heard saying, “I am subedar Arun Singh, traffic police, west. I am saying that I will not listen to anyone. I will certainly collect fine from those found breaking traffic rules even if you threaten me in name of Bala Bachchan or anyone else.”
