Courier firm owners booked for not depositing EPF

Pune: The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has lodged a complaint with Pune city police against two owners of the city-based Sun Moon Couriers Pvt Limited, Karve Road, for allegedly not depositing Provident Fund (PF) money.

Based on a complaint from Enforcement Officer Amresh Kumar (42) from the EPF regional office, Pune, an FIR has been registered with Alankar police station against the Directors of Sun Moon Couriers Pvt Limited, Ashish Yashwant Palande and Yashwant Vasudev Palande.

As per the FIR, between January 2017 and September 2018, the company deducted Rs 53,584 as PF amount from employees’ salaries. Along with this, company contribution of Rs 66,918 was to be deposited to the EPFO. Thus, a total of Rs 1.2 lakh should have been deposited.

The accused have been booked for offences under relevant sections of IPC.
