National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency Suresh Gopi filed nomination papers here on Thursday.
The actor, who reached the Collectorate accompanied by hundreds of followers, submitted his nomination papers to District Collector T.V. Anupama.
His deposit money of ₹25,000 was collected by fishermen of Thalikkulam panchayat.
Mr. Gopi had visited the Sreekrishna temple, Guruvayur, before filing his nomination papers. Hundreds of women welcomed him with ‘thalapoli’ at Guruvayur.
Later, Mr. Gopi conducted discussions with BJP leaders.
After weeks of confusion and anxiety, the NDA camp in Thrissur is in high spirits with the entry of the ‘action hero’ as the front’s candidate in Thrissur.
They hope the charisma of the actor will help overcome the delay and dilemma.
Reaching out to the people in all the seven Assembly constituencies as early as possible would be our focus, according to BJP district president A. Nagesh.
