Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao promises to stay in the districts and sort out all land-related issues

Promising radical changes in the Revenue Administration in the State, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the government would accord a conclusive title on the land holder and in case of errors the government would pay compensation to the title holder.

The Chief Minister on Thursday participated in public meetings at Mahabubabad in support of Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate Maloth Kavita and in Khammam in support of party candidate Nama Nageswara Rao.

Addressing the public meeting in Mahbubabad, the Chief Minister said that the government has undertaken a massive exercise to change the very name of the Revenue Department and designation of ‘Collector’ which came from colonial times and which are obsolete in the modern day.

Land disputes and shortage of drinking and irrigation water are main problems of the Mahabubabad district which is a predominantly tribal area. He said he would personally camp in the district for three days and sort out the land disputes of all kinds including podu lands. “We now have latest equipment such as GPS and a complete survey will be undertaken to give conclusive titles to all land holders. The land disputes will be solved once and for all,” he said amidst cheers from crowds.

Tribal welfare

Mahabubabad and Mulugu districts were created as they were predominantly tribal areas. The district status would ensure development of tribals. The required infrastructure would come up and the State government would set up a medical college at Mahabubabad as requested by the local leaders.

The TRS leader appealed to people to give more than 3,50,000 majority to party candidate Ms Kavitha and strengthen the hands of the party. Former MP A. Sitaram Naik would be accommodated with a suitable position in the government and he did not do any wrong. Internal compulsions within the party necessitated change of candidate. “I want all the party leaders to work in coordination and ensure big victory to TRS here,” he said.

Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, MLA B. Shankar Naik, MLCs Satyavathi Rathod and K. Srihari, parliamentary party leader K. Keshava Rao and others were present.

Addressing the public meeting in Khammam Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao asserted that the Indian electorate was not happy with the rule of the major parties – the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party – and said that the regional parties are poised to bag 250 to 260 seats in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

Federal Front

The non-Congress, non-BJP Federal Front would be the most promising outcome for providing a new direction and impetus to the country’s progress.

Both the Congress and the BJP are engaged in mudslinging against each other. Both the parties ruled the country for more than 60 years and they must take the blame for the multitude of problems such as poverty and lack of irrigation facilities still plaguing the country, he said.

The TRS, which returned to power in the State with a thumping majority by virtue of its landmark development and welfare schemes, is all set to play pivotal role in the national politics after the Parliamentary elections, he said.

Mr. Nama Nageswara Rao had raised separate Telangana issue along with me as a member of the 15th Lok Sabha, he said, adding that his candidature was finalised with consensus considering him as the suitable candidate for the Khammam seat.

‘Not a disqualification’

Referring to Khammam sitting MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who was denied the party ticket, Mr Rao said, “Mr Reddy is like a member of my family. Denial of ticket was not a matter of disqualification,” he said, while assuring a bright political future for Mr Reddy ahead.

In an apparent attempt to bring about unity among the new entrants and the senior leaders of the party, he said, “All the leaders including former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao should work in tandem to ensure the victory of Mr Nageswara Rao and enable the TRS bag all the 16 seats in the State and play a key role in the national politics.”

He assured to ensure setting up of the much awaited steel factory under the aegis of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) at Bayyaram, speedy completion of the ₹ 13,000 crore Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project in one and a half year.
