PUNE: The officials of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) attended training under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme organised at the PMC’s headquarter in Shivajinagar recently, a statement issued by the PMC said.
“The programme was carried out in association with the district collectorate. Information about Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines was shared with the civic officials. Apart from that details about how ballet units, control units and counting of votes were given to the civic officials,” the statement added.
As per the election commission, SVEEP is the flagship programme for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. “SVEEP’s primary goal is to build a truly participative democracy in India by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote and make an informed decision during the elections,” stated the commission.
