New Delhi, State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) on Thursday refuted reports on proposals to lower the retirement age of its employees and retrenchment of a large number of employees.

“We would like to refute these allegations in their entirety, and clarify for the benefit of all concerned that no such proposals have been approved by either the BSNL Board or the Department of Telecommunications,” the company said in a statement here.

It said the news items are false and baseless and appear to be intended to malign the image of the government only.

The statement added that the BSNL Board is actively engaged with the government to design and implement a comprehensive revival plan for the organisation in the near future.

“We remain committed to continue to value and guard the interests of all our stakeholders – our customers, our employees, and our partners/franchises.”
