JAIPUR: A first-year student of a city-based private college was found hanging inside her PG room on Tuesday. The Vidhyadhar Nagar police said that prima facie it appears that Reena Bariya, a first-year BEd student committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her room. No suicide note was found on the girl. This is the second incident of suicide of a student from the same private college in less than 10 days. Officials, however, have found no co-relation between the two suicides.
The 21-year-old student from Banswara had returned from home just a couple of days back.
Radha Raman Gupta, SHO, Vidhyadhar Nagar police station told TOI, “The girl was found hanging from the ceiling fan by the other girls staying in the PG accommodation. They first informed the college administration who then informed us as well as the parents. We did not find any suicide note. The parents have also not registered any FIR with us.”
Elaborating on the possible reason behind the suicide, Gupta added, “It appears that the girl had some personal issues because of which she took her own life. There doesn’t seem to be any connection with the suicide of another girl from the same college. We have not found any connection between the two suicides.”
On March 24, Nandani Soni, a first-year BSc nursing student of the same college had committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her hostel room. No suicide note was found on her either. A native of Sri Madhopur of Sikar district, Soni had moved to Jaipur one year ago to study nursing science. Police still is unclear about the reason behind her suicide as well.
