Bittu claims clean sweep for Cong in Punjab

Ludhiana: A day after Congress party declared sitting MP Ravneet Bittu as its candidate from Ludhiana for the coming Lok Sabha elections his supporters were seen in a jubilant mood. On Wednesday party leaders led by cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu gathered at the residence of Bittu and distributed sweets to celebrate his formal declaration as party’s candidate.

Meanwhile Bittu who has been in Delhi while speaking to TOI said, “I am grateful to the high command for giving me yet another chance to serve the people of Ludhiana. I am sure that the nationwide anti-BJP wave will lead to clean sweep for our party. Moreover in Punjab where all the opposition parties have been shown the mirror by people during Panchayat and councillor elections, writing is clear on the wall that we will win all the 13 seats with unprecedented margins, especially the Ludhiana seat where rival parties have so far failed to find candidates for the coming elections.

Responding to the accusations by BJP-SAD that he failed to perform as MP, Bittu said, “My selection as an MP candidate again by my party is a befitting reply to those who are asking for a report card from me. Had I not done any developmental works why would have party chosen me again? Also what right do such people have to ask me about my report card when their own parties failed to even lay a brick of any developmental work in Ludhiana. Its all petty politics by the BJP-SAD leaders but people of Ludhiana are not going to fall in their trap and they will show them the mirror through their votes,” he said.

On the issue of infighting between Bittu and other senior leaders of Congress party including MLA Rakesh Pandey, Bittu claimed that the entire cadre of Congress party stood united. “There was no question of any fight or differences between me and any other leader or workers. However if there is any kind of misunderstanding between any of our leaders and workers, I will ensure that that too is done away with soon,” he said.
