2020 Renault Captur To Have Hybrid And Autonomous Technologies

Renault is continuing to test the second-generation Renault Captur and engineers were recently snapped behind the wheel of a new prototype in Southern Spain near the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

The following prototype sports less camouflage than others we’ve seen and clearly takes after the latest Clio with some elements of its look. A set of silver and black wheels are being worn by this car which seem to suit the character of the vehicle nicely.

Underpinning the latest (and hopefully greatest) Renault Captur, will be the new CMF-B platform also introduced with the new Clio. This new platform will bring with it a number of important upgrades including better packaging which will allow the French automaker to offer the new Captur with a selection of different powertrains.

One of the most important new powertrains said to be on the cards will be a plug-in hybrid that supports a small 9.8 kWh battery and offers an all-electric range of 30 miles (50 km). The new Captur may also be offered with a mild-hybrid diesel while the more traditional range of engines will include a 1.0-liter turbo petrol sold in two different configurations. There should also be a 1.3-liter petrol offered to customers and a 1.5-liter diesel.

None of these powertrains will be particularly powerful but customers will at least have a plethora of fuel-efficient models to choose from.

A host of technologies will be incorporated into the new Renault Captur. This will allegedly include a 9.3-inch infotainment screen, digital gauge cluster, and semi-autonomous driving systems, just like the new Clio.

The new 2020 Renault Captur is expected to debut in the second half of the year.
