The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) has approved four technical paper proposals submitted by the engineers of Irrigation Department of Telangana for their presentation at Third World Irrigation Forum (WIF3) meet to be held at Bali in Indonesia in September this year.
According to Officer on Special Duty (Irrigation) to the Chief Minister Sridhar Rao Deshpande, the four proposals were cleared for presentation by the scrutiny committee of the WIF.
In a communication sent to the Irrigation Department, an executive of WIF Vijay K. Labhsetwar asked the authors to send their technical papers in detail for presentation.
WIF souvenir
Apart from giving an opportunity for presentation of the technical papers in person by the authors (irrigation engineers), the selected papers would also be published in the WIF souvenir. The authors have been asked to send their technical papers in details by May 15.
The papers from Telangana irrigation engineers selected by ICID for presentation at WIF include Mission Kakatiya – Restoration of Minor Irrigation Sources: A Flagship Program Undertaken by Govt. of Telangana, authors: K. Shyamsunder, Chief Engineer Minor Irrigation and Sridhar Rao Deshpande, OSD to CM; Nagarjunasagar Project – Modernisation for Improving Water Management Through on-off system, author: S. Suneel, Chief Engineer (now retired), Nagarjunasagar Project.
Further, Improving Water Use Efficiency and Productivity in Nizamsagar Project Through Modernisation, author: R Madhusudan Rao, Commissioner, Godavari Basin; Tail to Head – A Technique in Improving Water User Efficiency and Productivity in Sriramsagar Project, author: B. Shanker, Chief Engineer, SRSP., have been selected for presentation at the ICID meet.
