Daltonganj: Even as the tussle between RJD and Congress over the Chatra seat continues, a joint mahagathbandhan delegation on Thursday put up a united front in Palamu and vowed to fight together on this seat to defeat BJP’s siting MP V D Ram. As part of the mahagathbandhan seat-sharing deal, Palamu has gone to RJD, which has announced Ghuran Ram as their candidate.
Addressing a joint news conference here, district presidents of all four parties in the mahagathbandhan Bittu Pathak (Congress), Shanker Yadav (RJD), Murari Pandey (JVM-P) and Rajinder Prasad Sinha (JMM) said, “We and our cadres will fan out in villages and expose the misrule of the Narendra Modi government. BJP has just picked one or two lines of the Congress manifesto to criticize it, but it is silent on the issue of employment to 22 lakh people against the vacancies in government offices and institutions which Congress has promised to fill.”
RJD district chief Yadav said: “BJP is pulling out all stops to divert the attention of the people from issue like unemployment and is only trumpeting about nationalism, which is a hollow claim.” JVM-P district President Pandey added, “BJP is only harping on Pakistan, but it neither has vision nor determination to speed up development. In five years, BJP has widened the divide between Hindus and Muslims in the country.”
Congress district President Pathak said: “We will play a big role and our allies, JMM, JVM-P and RJD, will give a severe blow to BJP here.”
On their joint candidate, JMM district President Sinha said of JMM said, “Our candidate Ghuran Ram (RJD) is a son of the soil and is the face of the common man. On the other hand, BJP leans upon an outsider (V D Ram) for a victory. We will go to the masses with this bheetri-bahri ummeedwar (outsider vs local) campaign.”
