“After having committed the gravest misconduct, if the defaulter ASI is allowed to continue in the police force, it would be detrimental to public interest and further tarnish the image of police in the society. The facts and circumstances of the cases are such that it would not be reasonably practicable to conduct a regular departmental enquiry against the defaulter ASI,” the order read.

The ASI and his accomplice Pintu Sharma had allegedly killed Preeti (32), and her fiancé Annu Chauhan inside a Sai temple premises in Ghaziabad on March 25. The two accused were arrested on March 30.

The ASI had confessed that Preeti was his sister-in-law. Due to family relation, Dinesh used to visit the family of the deceased frequently. As time passed, the two got involved in a relationship. She later got into a relationship with Chauhan and the rejection did not go down well with the accused. A week before the incident, Preeti had stopped taking his calls.

On March 25, the ASI left from duty and went with his accomplice to the temple.
