BJP Spokesperson Demands More Women Reservation | Maharashtra BJP spokesperson Shaina N C today said most of the leading political parties, including her own, have not given enough representation to women in the Lok Sabha elections, PTI reported. The BJP leader praised West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik for reserving seats for women candidates. She said all other parties need to "wake up" as they only pay "lip service" to women's causes.

The BJP today changed its Lok Sabha candidate for Jalgaon in North Maharashtra, with its Chalisgaon MLA Unmesh Patil, PTI reported. Earlier, Member of the Legislative Council and BJP leader Smita Wagh had filed nomination as the party's candidate on March 28.

The Congress today announced 12 more Lok Sabha candidates from Madhya Pradesh which included Nakul Nath, son of Chief Minister Kamal Nath. Nakul will contest from his father's constituency, Chhindwara.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader and UP CM Yogi Adityanath had said at a rally that while the Congress serves biryani to terrorists, Modiji's army responds with bombs and bullets.

Amit Shah Takes a Jibe at Naidu | "Chandrababu Naidu is an ultimate opportunist leader. In 1983 he left Congress and joined great MGR. In 1989, he back stabbed NTR and became CM himself. He joined NDA under Atal ji's tenure and left NDA as soon as NDA went out of Power. As soon as he realised Modi ji is going to win in 2014, he joined NDA. Ultimately he snapped ties with the NDA. There is no place for Chandrababu Naidu in the NDA, in case, he wants to join NDA after the elections," Amit Shah says.

BJP president Amit Shah in Guntur said that the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act had 14 main points which were supposed to be completed in 10 years, but the BJP in just five years completed 11 of them.

"The work of IIT, IISER has been completed. The work for Central University has been sanctioned. The work of  IIM, tribal university and agriculture university has been approved in Andhra Pradesh," says Amit Shah.

Kapil Sibal Slams PM Modi's Statements | Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal today accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having "diminished" the status of his office with his statements and of speaking only about Pakistan and not India and its people. "Actually this prime minister only talks about Pakistan; he is not talking about Hindustan. He is the Prime Minister of Hindustan, our prime minister, but it looks like his vision is only directed at Pakistan," he said.

The decision to field Poonam Sinha as the joint opposition candidate against the Home Minister is an attempt by the opposition parties to keep the Union Home Minister confined to his constituency.

Kalyan Singh's Poll Violation Report Sent to Home MInistry | The President has forwarded the report over Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh to Home Ministry. The EC had written to the President against him for the violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Kalyan Singh in his response to the recent development told new agency ANI "We are BJP workers and want BJP to emerge victoriously. We want that once again Modi ji should become PM on 23rd May".

Yogi Adityanath on Rahul Gandhi's Second Nomination | UP CM Yogi Adityanath at a public meeting in Bulandshahr said that Rahul Gandhi's nomination from Wayanad signals his defeat in UP. "He knew that he will not win in UP, that why he went to Kerala," he said. The chief minister, who was recently under fire for his 'Modi ji Sena' comment, also said that the Congress is contesting elections there in an alliance with the Muslim league which was responsible for India's partition. Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad today defended his party's promise to review the AFSPA, saying while the security forces should enjoy full powers to eliminate militancy, it is also necessary to ensure that no human rights violation takes place. 

For smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission has appointed 36 observers for four out of six parliamentary constituencies, PTI reported. The observers, including 28 general, six expenditure and two police, have been appointed for Baramulla, Jammu, Srinagar and Udhampur Lok Sabha constituencies.

Congress workers today created ruckus at their party office in Patna, Bihar after former party MP Nikhil Kumar from Aurangabad constituency was denied a ticket, news agency ANI reported. The Grand Alliance has fielded Upendra Prasad of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) as its candidate from Aurangabad.
