The District Election Officers and Collectors of Vellore and Tiruvannamalai have asked leaders of political parties and contestants of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in Vellore district where bypolls are scheduled, to submit details of election expenditure.
According to the press note, contestants have been told to provide exact details of expenditures incurred as poll surveillance staff would maintain a list of the expenditure in a shadow register, which would be sent to the Election Commission after comparing it with the details provided.
The contestants for Vellore and Arakkonam Parliamentary constituencies and contestants/representatives of Sholingur, Ambur and Gudiyatham (SC) Assembly constituencies have been asked to come for verification of expenditure registers on April 5, 10 and 15 at the Conference Hall, (5th floor), Collectorate. While political parties can come and submit their records between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., the independents can submit their register between 2.30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
For Tiruvannamalai constituency, the contestants have been asked to come for verification on April 4, 10 and 16 at the Collectorate and submit their records between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
For Arni constituency, the contestants have been asked to come for verification on April 4, 10 and 16 at the tahsildar’s office at Arni. They can submit their records between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m, the press release said.
