The Election Commission has added 10,50,407 voters to Gujarat list following the voters' roll revision programme that concluded on March 25. The state chief electoral officer (CEO) revealed that the rolls were revised twice after the list was prepared on September 01 last year.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, CEO Dr Murali Krishna said: "As of September 01, 2018, the total number of voters registered in Gujarat was around 4.40 crore. But the special roll revision drive was held after that which went on till January 31 this year, and 6.70 lakh voters were added to the list. The revision went on from February 1 till March 25, and 3.79 lakh voters were further added. Now, the final voters list to be used for Lok Sabha polls is prepared and there are 4.51 crore voters in the state."
As per the revised list, now there are 2.34 crore male voters, 2.16 crore female voters and 990 voters of third gender in the state. Out of this, 10.06 lakh are first-time voters who fall into the age group of 18 to 19 years.
Navsari Lok Sabha constituency has the maximum number of voters with 19.71 lakh on the list, followed by Gandhinagar with 19.45 lakh voters. Bharuch Lok Sabha constituency has the least number of voters with 15.64 lakh people registered on the list.
Meanwhile, the CEO also informed that the Election Expenditure Regulatory Committee and Liquor Prohibition and Excise Department teams appointed in the state seized 2.42 lakh liter liquor worth Rs. 6.67 crore so far. Income tax officials, static surveillance teams and flying squads confiscated Rs. 3.28 crore by April 01. Surveillance teams seized Rs 1.63 crore from Ahmedabad.
Krishna also shared that a total of 68 complaints related to breach of code of conduct were received by his office.
