Committee Chairman Requests Trump's IRS Tax ReturnsOn Wednesday, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal used a little known loophole in IRS tax code to request the last six years of President Donald Trump's tax returns. Neal has requested both Trump's personal tax returns from 2013 to 2018, as well as tax returns from eight of Trump's businesses. That will likely relieve Democrats who worried that Trump's personal tax returns alone might not paint the entire picture. Neal has given the IRS until April 10 to fulfill his request, but there is likely a long legal battle ahead. Trump has responded by saying that he would not reveal his tax returns until he is no longer under audit by the IRS. Neal made sure to be clear in both the letter and a statement to CNN, that his request was purely about "policy, not politics." Additional reporting for Newsy affiliate CNN . | |||||
