Pensions will be stopped, ration cards cancelled, agricultural land and houses taken back, the poor will have no place in Andhra Pradesh if the Telugu Desam returns to power, said YSR Congress Party president and Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday.
Addressing an election meeting at Mylavaram in Krishna district, Mr. Jagan said that 6,000 government schools had been closed and if the people voted for Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu all government schools would be closed and even the poor would have to pay huge fee to send their children to schools run by TDP Minister P. Narayana, Mr. Jagan alleged.
College fee would also be hiked. Bus fares would go up, electricity tariff, petrol and diesel prices , and property and water taxes, would be increased, he said.
There was no sand left in the State because it was being mined excessively, earth too removed from tanks and other places was disappearing. Hillocks, the land of the poor and even rivers were disappearing, Mr. Jagan said. It was said that sand would be free, but one had to pay ₹40,000 for a truckload, he alleged.
Janmabhoomi panels
If Mr. Naidu came to power, the Janmabhoomi committees would dictate everything to the people, including which TV channels and films they should watch.
On the Mylavaram constituency, Mr. Jagan said that there was nobody to address the problems of mango, cotton and chilli farmers.
He asked the people to vote for party’s Lok Sabha candidate Potluri V.Prasad and Mylavaram Assembly candidate Vasantha Krishna Prasad.
