Retired IPS officer and former DGP of Odisha and CRPF Prakash Chandra Mishra on Wednesday filed his nomination papers for the prestigious Cuttack Lok Sabha seat as a BJP nominee.
Mr. Mishra had joined the BJP last month and was given the ticket to contest from Cuttack, a traditional BJD seat that had reposed faith in editor-turned-politician Bhartruhari Mahatab for the last five terms. The soft-spoken and suave Mr. Mishra will also lock horns with seasoned politician Panchanan Kanungo of the Congress. Besides the segments bifurcated from the Millennium City — Barabati Cuttack, Choudwar Cuttack and Sadar Cuttack — segments like Banki, Badamba and Athgarh of Cuttack district and Khandapada of Khurda district come under the Cuttack LS seat.
