A ride-share driver followed a young woman into her Gold Coast home after dropping her off and sexually assaulted her on Tuesday, according to police.

The driver, a 25-year-old man,  allegedly picked the 21-year-old female victim up in Broadbeach about 2am and drove her to her Southport home.

The woman got out and went inside, police will allege the driver followed her in through an unlocked door and sexually assaulted her in her bedroom.

She was able to fight off her alleged attacker and the struggle woke other people inside the home, who chased the man away.

A 25-year-old man from the Gold Coast suburb of Miami has been charged with four counts of sexual assault and burglary. He was set to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on April 17.
