The Pattali Makkal Katchi Youth Wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss addressed voters at Katpadi, Vellore, on Wednesday.
Seeking votes for former Union State Minister for Railways and his party candidate, A.K. Moorthy, Mr. Anbumani said this election was a war between ‘farmers’ and ‘millionaires’.
Pointing out to DMK leader M.K. Stalin’s land grabbing allegations on his party, he said that he was ready to face any investigative agency, be it the CB-CID, CBI or even the Interpol.
Mr. Anbumani, referring to the Godavari-Cauvery river project, said the project envisaged at a cost of ₹ 65,000 crore will divert 1,500 tmc feet of water which goes into the sea. Once this is done, water from the Cauvery is expected to reach Thenpennai river and Palar and can be stored for the whole year.
This would, in turn, help promote agriculture in more areas in the riverbed and enhance groundwater recharge and help address water shortage in Vellore district, Mr. Anbumani said.
Our alliance has several schemes for the welfare of the people, whereas the DMK alliance is money-centric and election-centric, Mr. Anbumani said.
The withdrawal of NEET will once again pave the way for politicians and educationists to become richer, he cautioned. He reminded voters that the DMK was the reason for several problems facing Tamil Nadu such as NEET, Sterlite issue in Thoothukudi, and the decades-long Cauvery water issue with Karnataka. The Opposition leader was more focused on criticising the AIADMK government than concentrating on his party or its members, he added.
Mr. Anbumani said the two-time MP S. Jagathrakshakan had done nothing for Arakkonam constituency and thought that money alone could win him votes. Voters cannot be cheated repeatedly, he added.
Urging the people to vote for Mr. A.K. Moorthy, he said, the PMK candidate was humble, approachable and had done remarkable work during his tenure as Union Minister.
